AI Governance: Overseeing AI Responsibly
- Description
- Curriculum
When an organisation deploys AI, it also has to answer a harder question: who is accountable when the AI gets it wrong? AI Governance is the set of laws, structures and habits we put around AI to manage its risks. This focused course is about that oversight role, and how to do it without smothering innovation.
You will begin with why AI needs governance and the timing dilemma at its heart, then work through the five principles of trustworthy AI and how to govern them across the entire AI lifecycle. From there you will navigate the global rulebook (the OECD AI Principles, the UNESCO Recommendation, the EU AI Act’s risk tiers, ISO and NIST standards, and regulatory sandboxes), take a detailed look at how the USA and India govern AI, and learn how to future-proof your approach for generative, open-source and frontier AI. The course ends by helping you build a governance action plan for your own organisation.
Each module includes a short video overview, richly illustrated lessons, quizzes and an interactive activity, including a Principle Matcher, an EU AI Act Risk-Tier Sorter and an Action Plan Builder. No legal or technical background is required.
